Its near impossible to get past the integrated smartlock/smartsheild system, as it is integrated in the ECU and BEM.

There are rumours of devices to bypass smartlock, but I've never seen one in the flesh!!

you're not meant to disable it. Thats the whole reason why ford made it in the first place

Smartlock can be bypassed with out too much effort

Smartshield (AU onwards) I have never heard of a bypass for it

*cough* points to sig pic

search I posted up how to defeat smartlock. Can't help with smartsheild thouhg, I imagine however it'd be similar, as it's a transponder based key, wrap a bunch of wire around a spare key, hide it somewhere, and wire it into the sensor near the ignition lock.

The sensor for the transponder key - is it inside the lock in a similar location to where the smartlock sensor is? Or is it some stand-alone board near where the key enters?

Never seen a smartshield system, but if someone can explain how it works, i'm sure a mod could be done.

The transponder pickup will either be in the lock, or (like a Daewoo Lanos I worked on recently) be a ring shaped device that surrounds the lock - but is physically seperate.
