I just got my BA Mark 2 serviced. A day later I gunned it in first up to about 5500RPM, then the engine warning light came on. I pulled over and it sounded like the engine was running on 2-3 cylinders, then it stalled. I turned the key off, then back on and bingo it fired up and ran fine. Two days later everything is still going well...

Anyone have any idea as to what it might of been??

Cheers

Hey mate had exactly the same problem with my parents work car (BA ford faclon xt mark 1, 2003); was driving it, had warning light come on at lights it sounded like it was stalling or something, definatly awkard timing of the pistons; sounded bloody wierd. anyway turned it off, back on again and it was fine. a week later mum said the same thing "that the lights on the dash came flashy on, the engine sounded outa sync". (this is the one they are letting me do alittle work too).

Mum took into into the mechanics and had them go over it. From what i can remember (this was a while ago and a time before i started learning about engines so i didnt know at the time and cant be specific) it had something to do with the timing; i cant remember if it was CPU related or timing or what...but they updated something with the electronics. ill ask mum tomorow; maybe we can dig up the mechanics report and i'll post exactly what it says; but by all means it wasnt a problem; just the cost of a service. but saying that , with what ive learnt so far, be interesting to look at the report slip again.

I was kinda thinking it was in limp home mode or something like that, but would that explain why it was running so rough and stalled?? Also what do you think would cause it to go into limp home mode? surely a little rev would do that...

I think that is one of the reasons they created software upgrades for them.

Yer, funny, when I dropped it for the service the day earlier I asked if there was any software upgrades for it, as I've got a problem with hard changes from 3rd to 4th, and they said there was no newer ones available???
