Firstly thanks for the replys to my last post (re EL weird problem) Im going to try and replace the ignition coil and the hybrid module on the distributor. BUT, I keep looking at where they are then look at the size and length of my arms and they kind of dont go together...I must be missing something here but from the top of motor I even imagine how a normal sized arm can fit in let alone unbolt coi, TFI module etc.
Thanks |

coil is easi accessable from underneath (well easiER), TFI module, you need to lift the dizzy up to unscrew it, and unplug it (it unplugs downwards).
There are other methods, but thats what I would do. Good luck!

As said the coil is easier to get to from underneath. The dissy is by far, more accessible once you remove the air box.

I have never tried it, but I do believe the dizzy can come out w/o taking off the inlet manifold. As madmax says, remove the airbox

firstly test the coil between the primary and secondary contacts should be around 6-8k if out of these range then it is stuffed but because it was a hasle to get to i replaced the coil and the tfi module cost me about 60 dollars each new from bursons
take out the air box and some of the pipe connected to air box this make it a little easier to get to coil and tfi i would not take out dizzy just turn it and get a phillips head screw driver to undo the tfi module but firstly unplug the module then with the new one you have to put some paste on it and then screw it back on if you buy a new one the paste wil come with it the coil is a bit harder to get out which has two bolts on it take off the bolts from under the car by using a 8mm socket on a extension i just did this yesterday and while i was at it i change all the plgs and leads |

yeah, dizzy can come out under the EB/ED manifold.. Ive done it that way before, leads and the cap need to be taken off, and after that, straight out.
Cheers

the clamp on the side of the dizzy, what holds it to the block... Have you removed that?
If you have the inlet manifold off, no need to take the cap off, but either way, the clamp needs to be taken off. (13mm, 1/2"). Cheers
