Anyone know roughly how much itd cost to get an auto electrician called out to fix my electric windows? Im no electrician so dont know much about it.. The only window that goes down or up is the front passenger seat.. the buttons in the centre console work and from memory the drivers side rear window wires werent getting enough voltage on the meter.. is this actually an easy fix or better to get sumone qualified?
cheers

The switches do often suffer from carbon buildup - particularly the up circuits, so you could try dismantling the switch assy and cleaning the contacts with cotton wool buds and metho for starters. Since one window works there is power getting to the switch assy.

If you're not confident, surely some of the WA fordmods guys could have a look at it for you for a few ales or whatever.

most likely the solders have gone dry on the main switch. This happened to my LTD. None of the windows worked when i got it (another reason i got it so cheap  ).

After i re-soldered all the joints on the printed circuit i got all back expect for 1 which was a shagged regulator.

What exact main switch are u talking about??? the one in the centre console? (near shifter)?? That has been replaced with a working one.. Seems the last owner had tried to fix the windows too as he took off the drivers side door trim..

ur probably gonna laugh, but i actually cant work out how to get the regulators out of the doors.. The motors or whatever in the wrecker car (89 na) are riveted in there so u have to drill the rivets out, the ones in my car are torx screwed in (1990 na might b series 2). anyway my point is im a complete noob and have no idea what im doing with these electric windows...

i don't ever remember them being torx screwed in. They must have been replaced at one point or another

The unit itself actually looks quite new, but in saying that the whole car was kept in pretty good condition till the rego expired and they began wrecking it (i was lucky enuf to get there b4 anything major had been taken off the car) on the whole the car is 10x better then my wrecker car in quality
