G'day
After reading the i6 mods sticky i'm a little confused on what extractors i need for my motor. I'm going to be putting an el motor in my xf wagon. I'm after low down torque (as i will be towing occasionally), the engine will rarely see redline. I'm thinking about an rpd stage 2 cam with my ms-2 controlling the computer side of things. What is the best brand for torque? Alot of people have recommended pacemaker comp series, but after reading up on these extractors and talking to a few exhaust shops these may not be best suited to my application. The other problem i have is that i need to make sure its going to clear the pitman arm on my steering box. As far as i know if i get xg extractors i should be fine. Cheers

wildcat 21x are getting a reputation for producing good amounts of torque.
the exhaust shops ive talked to all have said this.

Pacey Comps are definateyl good for some l9ow and mid rev range pulling power! I've compared them to having the standard manifold and the lukey extractors on my ride.

I got some 21X's and I'm very happy with the upgrade in performance.
They're also a lot cheaper than most brands and if you talk to the people that test them, they out perform the others too. I don't think there would be anyone on here who has a set of 21'x fitted who isn't satisfied.

At the moment i have pacemaker 4499's but i lost alot of low, mid power range, only gained top end power. The wildcat 21x pipes are physically the same shape and design as the pacemaker 4499's but they are pressed bent with 38mm(1.5in) primary pipes as compared with the pacies which are 41mm(1.5/8in) and the pacies have bigger secondarys. My car deffinately accelerated better from 0-60 with the cat back exhaust and stock headers. After pacies were fitted it felt sluggish around town but i gained a fair bit of power up above 4000rpm. Exhaust fitter in Brissy told me this: The primary pipe size on pacemaker 4499 and 4480 are way too big for stock motors and probably should only be used with 4l ohc motors that have had head and cam work. The scavaging effect from the exhaust ports on stock motors will be alot better with smaller pipes and the exhaust gas velocity will also be increased. Therefore stock motors will respond better with pressed bent, smaller primary pipe extrators in low and mid rev range with a good torque curve. cheers........... |

So i light of all this! If i was going to go with an rpd stage 2 cam, my ms-2 ecu adn the only other mods being a cold air intake and full cat back system which ones should i go with? Cheers

dude seriously, Hi-tech Race Series Extractors, they Breath WAY better than the comps, the Hi-techs may cost a tad more (i dont think so tho) but trust me they are worth it, just make sure you get the race series ones (they stretch back further)

idd back southy on the hi-tech race series, im running a pair, but they seem better for top end. worth the cash.
but seriously with all your planned mods you say the thing will never see high rpm... |

I am starting to see a common trend here because hitech headers also have primary pipe diameter of 38mm(1.5in) which is the same as the wildcats and lukey.
I new those primary pipes on my pacemaker 4499's looked way too big. damn it............ |

As for the redline thing, it will see it, i just like to be conservative. I'm used to driving a xflow and they dont like going to redline in stock form, they sound like there gona fly apart. Where can i get a set of these hi-tech race series extractors? Who makes em? Got an rdo tomorrow (nothing like the construction industry  ) so i'll ring around and get prices.

Any local Exhaust Shop will get them for you, They look the same as the ones in my Sig, They should cost around $400 if you look around
