the ring type mixers are what the factory dual fuel setups use, they're no where near as restrictive as the mixer in the pics ...
it has to be able to fit inside the inlet section ducting tho, the standard ID isn't big enough and you have to use something like a die grinder to enlarge the ID of the ducting to get it to fit, or use a factory dual fuel inlet section that is slightly bigger ID than a petrol engine duct |

Same convertor as I used to have...
Your mixer looks worse though!!! If you come along to the next Vic cruise (whenever that is) I can give you my old mixer if you want. I got no use for the thing.

Use colder plugs when running on LPG. Helps to prevent pinging. I've got XE spark plugs in my ED. Alot cooler and still runs fine. Doesn't have any trouble in bagging up the treads with over 270 thou on the clock...
As for a less restrictive mixer, check this one out: http://www.iwemalpg.com/TORNADO.htm and http://www.iwemalpg.com/TORNADO450.htm Was going to use one of these on my 351 clevo, but ended up buying a s/h sprintgas mixer and converter cheap! These Tornado mixers use a standard IMPCO gas converter, but is modified to operate at a higher pressure ratio. Due to the higher pressure ratio, the mixer doesn't have to be as restrictive to suck the gas into the airstream.

that pic is baaad.... pod would burn your hand...
idd revise that setup, as pod and pipe would be terrible for performance, has the flex pipe melted at all? ontopic, definantly get a donut mixer, it would be heaps better than the one youve got. |

if so maybe purchase a std heat sheild of any e-series from the rekers that would be a good start in the right direction. |

yes the gas mixer is were the airbox filter goes i tryed to move the gas mixer around a bit but everthing is short, the wires run all on the left side of the engine the gas & fuel lines all run on the same side all short can`t move the mixer to the other side to much work the donut looks good maybe half the size going down near the tube
least it be cooler on that side thanks alot ill go down to the reckers look for a e-series bend

I remember that it use to be, that all LPG components had to be installed behind #1 cylinder, for crash protection. Maybe the rules have changed, however i've never seen a gas convertor in that position before.

Ok, So, I can simply chuck a donut mixer in there instead of the restrictive one I have? I went to a AUTO-GAS wholesalers today and was quoted $77 for a Donut looking mixer. As for my backfiring problem, I have replaced my leads with Champion high performance leads for LPG/PETROL, which I'll just say was an absolute pain in the a*se. The location of the distributor is completely ridiculous and even with the airbox off and the car jacked up it was difficult. When it came time to replace the lead from the distributor to the coil, I noticed there is a pink wire underneath the lead that seems to be attatched to the center of the lead and goes into the engine somewhere. I decided not to replace that lead as the replacement lead does not have this?
