Hi,
I have a 97 Falcon EL GLi which has been using non-abs rotors for the last month as i brought the rotors not knowing that the car had ABS. (buying ABS ones very soon.) Anyways, the ABS warning light would normally come up, but two days ago my bro hit the EL very hard into a large curb on the driver's side and bent the stock rims, snapped the hub caps, broke disk pad and bent i think the lower and upper stub axle. My Dad got the car repaired yesterday from a mechanic, but the ABS warning light is not there? Could the ABS be stuffed on that RHS? |

Wouldnt be surprised, the ABS discs have a perforated wheel on the inside, for the ABS sensor, to detect when there is wheel spin, so it wouldnt work.

They didn't replace the rotor, thats for sure.
The main problem which i'm having is that the ABS Warning Light never appears anymore as it used to before the crash. Might have to do a ABS diagnostic test. |

I wonder if they removed the ABS Bulb from the cluster, because they couldnt get the ABS working when they fixed it ?????
They probably thought that the ABS was working before the crash, and that you would whinge if the check ABS light was illuminated, after they had just fixed it ???

yep thats exactly what I was thinking. Fkn dealers tend to remove thigs like coolant temp lights etc when they know cars have over heating problems. Hope we r wrong.

speaking of doddgy repairs....should i be annoyed that the d***head that replaced the indicator asweasthe headligtafter a minor accident, didnt put the 2nd screw in the indicator, and i have to keep knocking it back into place????
mmm, i dont know enough to give any opinion on the subject...but... alright, does the abs light, light up breifly when u turn the key over?? does the abs light come on when u lock it up??.....it is possible to do, although i had alot of trouble getting the brakes to lock, just throw some water on the ground, give it a 30 or so meter run up, accelerate till the last second, then straight off the accelerator onto the brakes...thats how i got it to lock, then the abs came on, along with the light. was it a nrma approved repairer??...cos weve had nuttin but crap from nrma approved repaires..dodgy mechanical repairs and the dodgiest bodywork repairs, from things as stupid as fingerprints in the front bumper, to unpainted patches, paint that had run, indicators that wernt screwed in, and the headlights being coompletely uneven. i have nothing good to say about nrma approved anythings, my mates dad is nrma approved mech repairer, he should be shot for some of the work he's done on my dads car, and charged a s**t for. sorry, not happy with nrma. gtg, hope it helps, bya
