was really needing to upgrade my system, but dont want any major modifications.

eg, standard speaker sizes are fine, just need to know which ones are the best. so 6" im guessing. ive read all over the place that i am to die rather than put in sony or similar brands...

also looking for a good freeair 8" sub to put in? was told there was not many going around these days.

so all in all, including amplifier, maybe use existing one? what is the best option for best sounding system?

honestly mate if your saying u want the best sounding system but dont wanna spend much, dot wanna do too many modificatiions etc its gonna make it hard to getthat "awesome sounding system"....but if ya happy with 6" doors and obviously happy to use the standard amp even though personally i wouldnt..and an 8" free air...so ya dont want to much bass then a cheap good sounding SQ system should take too much shopping around.

Need to asses ya budget....for this sytem what r u prepared to spend than go from there.... for the front doors id say spend at least $300 more like $400 onthe front splits...could run them off ya stock HU or aftermarket head unit....if ya happy with the rears leave em or get a half decent set of 2way co-axials...dont do 6x9s...from $150+ ... and not too sure on ya sub options....id get a small mould made up to box the bottom of a rockford punch 8" sub (not a free air).

Even for a pretty basic system if you want a sub you'll be loking between 500 - 600 for head deck - speakers front and rear and an amp and sub!! But look around - jaycar is good and cheap and good quality!! Good luck mate

ok so i see now.

i wanted something that still sounds good, im using an aftermarket HU, but would probably want to use the factory amp to run a new set of 6" in the front and like you said some 2 ways in the back, also with an 8".

so two more questions, where would i get a decent mould made up for the sub?

and i am not looking for the best sounding, maybe just a little more bass (low range and midbass), without going all out. so like u said, budget is not really a problem, because im a patient guy and will save to do it right the first time.

thanks.

if u wanna do it right the first time then dont use an 8" free air sub they really do suck. and ditch the factory amp, its a 6ohm amp, and well, it sucks too. plus its only 3 channel. get a descent 10 or 12 inch driver and a premade box, 100 ish for driver, 70ish for box, then set aside some money for an amp, try and pick up a second hand one on here ppl have them for sale from time to time, then say 60 for the cable kit, use 4 guage 8 really sucks balls and 4 isnt that much more expensive then 400 for all the speakers or more and she will be sweet. infact if u look in the forsale section atm daniel is selling some very good quality alpine and focal items, would be worth checking out if your budget stretches that far

Must = splits in front of amp.

Leave rears standard.

yes i second ditching the factory amp... all its good for is running the factory speakers and factory sub.

look at frequency response of your speakers too.

ok so a few ideas now..
will look at the for sale items though.. if the budget allows. lol.!

so ditch the factory amp. what about :>
-factory rears
-6" splits in front
-good 8" sub (not free-air, but normal with a custom made fibreglass box)
-good amp

any thoughts on that?

dont worry about the 8" sub its hard enough to find a good one these days any way. Just get a good set of 6" speakers for the back look at the frequency range and choose a set that have low frequency response. and depending how your budget goes get one or 2 10" subs for the boot. remember amp All your speakers!

I got some pioneer dual cones for the front (blue).
Got the same for rear just they are 2-way not dual cone.
I got a kenwood head unit for 100 mates rates (KDC-4029) but my sony was an ok unit (somting-3000)
ANd i got a s**t amp (us audio) and a gay 12 inch sub (explod) for 100 off a mate. Tune it right and ur set.
Later on u can upgrade. Example im getting a new pioneer sub for 120 at JG HIFI.
