I'm undecided between what cam would best suit my car.
I've got an EF GLi 4.0 auto with 4480 pacemakers, 2.5" redback, hi-flo cat and an AU tickford snorkel.

I've been looking at the 1636 but might only need the 1004-110. I'm after economy most of all but power gains and better driveability are wanted also.

Would the 1636 be too rough and more suited to a manual trans?
Or would it be suitable and fuel friendly?
It is a daily driver but my city/long distance driving is 50/50 id say.

Cheers, Matt

the 1004-10 in an auto really needs to be chipped to sort out fuel economy and to produce the most out of the cam, not to mention stop it from stalling

i have the 1004-14 cam in my car, with pacemaker comps, 2.5" exhaust, tickford intake and 3.73:1 diff gears and i get around 500km to a tank, makes reasonable power, havnt had it dynoed but i can assure you it goes good. Also theres no problems with idle, at first there will be but after a bit of driving the computer learns the cam and it idles like a stocker.

To compare i have sat right next to a 220kw BA XLS 5.4litre ute up to 165km/h then i backed off, just this afternoon (on a private road of course)

500km's is pretty solid for a cam enhanced car! is your manual or auto mrnasty?

I have the 1636 in my EL Ghia.

Moves along quite nicely. Gives a nice shove into the seat from low rpms (which I would prefer with an auto) but power seems to be the same at high rpms as my XR cam, but that could just be the ECU tune.

Idle is near stock. Exhaust note changes a little, and it does have a faint lump. Its definately not the animal that a 1004 is/can be. If thats what your after, the 1004 is the pick.

Oh, and the 1636 give me better fuel economy than the XR cam. Probably because of the better off the line and low rpm power.

Auto, with 3.73:1 diff gears, sits on higher revs at 100km/s compared to the regular falcons aswell, 2300rpm, cause i know someone will ask :)
