was looking around in the boot of my 93 ed fairmont, and saw there was a hole in the parcel shelf that looked just right for a sub, only the guys at ford forgot to chuck one in all those yrs ago! lol.
what measurement would the sub to go in there be? and if so, what would everyone recommend to put in there? i didnt want to really change anything else, if i could keep the car as stock as possible it would be good. eg would i have to add another amp etc?

factory sub only comes with premium sound system.
The sub that goes in there is an 8" sub. There arent many good free air 8" subs around, but apparently alpine have one. Do a search this has come up about 10 times |

i dunno the legalities in drilling, buts its only illegal if you get caught, its a 200W sub, it has been sittin gin the hole for a couple months, i hooked it up without bolting it down and it still went hard

My LTD had the premium system which included the 8" sub.
The second mod I did (first was HU) was binning the 8" fo a boxed 12". The 8" makes close to no bass at all! |

wouldnt the factory 8" in the premium sound systems and even the standard both front and rear sound better with an aftermarket amp? i had a mate who said that the factory speakers went hard with a different amp he bought and fitted himself...

The standard amp is an alpine amp but the speakers are real crap and most likely are only rated at about 10w.
You can mount a 10 in the rear shelf without any mods or holes in the car simply by making a spacer out of mdf that mounts underneath the rear shelf and the 10 bolts up to this.... If you use an efficient sub the standard amp should work reasonably well but the key is the subs efficency....
