Hey guys, the EB is at a stand still at the moment, the water pump is shot and is leaking like a siv.
I was supposed to get a manual off a mate but that fell through and so i have to do it blind. What i want to know is how to take the fan off, i have been told its left hand thread and know what to do with it. Is it just a matter of taking off the huge nut between the pump and fan? Next question is the water pump. Am i going to have to remove the p/s pump to get to it? I have had a scrounge around in the engine bay and seen that there are four bolts/nuts holding it on is that all that is attaching it? If there is anything i need to know about changing the pump can some one please let me know as i really need to get the car finnished by tomorow. And finaly the p/s pump belt and alt belt. Can some one please go through as to how to attach the belts, the old ones were shocking and took no effort to cut through them with a blunt stanley knife ps i did do a search on how to do this, i just couldn't be bothered going through the 40+ pages that came up in the results. Thanks in advance guys. -Nick

i replaced my water pump and its quite simple. drain water first.
loosen the p/str belt and unbolt the pump from the head. jam a screwdriver in between the bolts on the waterpump pulley and use a 32mm spanner to loosen the fan. the fan might touch the radiator when u unscrew it. take the fan and shroud out together. loosen the alternator so u can take the belt off. use a 10mm spanner to remove the 4 bolts holding on the waterpump pulley. u may need top jam a screwdriver in between two bolts to hold it still. undo the 4 bolts (10mm) holding in the waterpump. and undo the bolt behind the waterpump that holds in the alternator bracket. u might need to use a rubber hammer to loosen the pump from the block. hope this helps ya. |

when i had to pull this s**t off the eb's its a pain in the rectum. Its 32mm for 6's and 38 IIRC for 8's. Some times the fan would spin so there was this chain plyers thing i used to hold it still. It should touch the radiator but this is a good chance to take it out and get it flushed.
