Hi Guys,

My amps finally shat itself so its time to get serious and actually finish my system off. I'm considering the new Alpine PDX 4.150 and 1.1000 to run some subs (one sub initially - possibly another if there's not enough punch). Anyone had experience with these amps? So far all the reviews i've read have been very positive? The main objective is sound quality.

Speakers are:
Front: 5.25" Boston RC520 Splits
Rear: 6.5" Boston RX67 Co-Axials

Sub will be a 12" Boston G5 DVC.

Cheers,
Anth

I just had a look at these amps at Freeway Car Audio, what amazed me is that they are all the same size, doesnt matter what rms output they are all because they are digital amps :D

And they are stackable...........................

But other than that dont know much about them, sorry!

Yeh the new alpine amplifier lineup is very sweet and more set for SQL...to try and draw in more of the SPL crowd theyve added scalability by being able to now stack em.

For what ya running you dont "have" to go the PDX series.

If ya wanna save ya self some cash and get something that will do just as good a job Ive got 2 V12 alpine amps for sale...one never used the other was used in an SQL setup for a week(the 5 channel). see link below...im sellin the 2 as a pack for $700 - rrp is $1700....So for less than the single PDX4.150 @ $899 U can get the 5 channel to run ya front stage (bridged at 2ohms)...ya rear stage off the 2 channel....and then ya just need ya mono for the 12" sub....

{DESCRIPTION}

If ya interested tho I may be interested in also parting with 2 MRV-1005s ... that I run in my 4x12" sub SQL comp car.

Definitely something to think about BigKev... Why are you getting rid of them?

Ended up going for a full competition setup ... so were further upgraded...to now run 2x F545s, 2x MRD-M1005s, 2x MRV-T420s...referbs still happenin with 2 more monos going in unless i sell em....thenI'll wait a while and get other stuff done...let me know ya thoughts.

If ya are genuinly interested in the package tho...send me a PM and we can discuss the price if ya like.

Thanks
Kev

you've got an EF, right?

if so, why are you going for 5.25's at the front?

why not they fit and arent bad for a cheap speaker...nice 1" dome tweeter...be better tho if the boston range produced better than 20-22khz as their peak frequency.

Didn't want to cut the doors to fit 6.5" splits in there. If the factory holes were able to fit 6.5" then thats what i would've fitted without a doubt. I didn't want to go cutting and pasting things everywhere - i wanted a stealth install.

My personal belief is that 5.25" are still good for clear mid-range because there's less mass (speaker cone) that the amp needs to control. Bass is the subs responsibility.

They're not exactly a budget JB HiFi speaker but likewise they're not at the tip of the speaker iceburg either. I paid something like $480 for my front Rallye splits, 5.25" Pros were about $800 back then.
