Ever driven a car that's running out of fuel? Dying and picking up? That's surging. |

omg, thats what my EA has been doing!! I've been trying to explain it for ages but wasn't sure how. sometimes it will keep cutting out for seconds really quickly making thre car jerk and the tacho moves up and down really quickly!! how do I fix it, i've changed the fuel filter but that didn't fix it. I'm gonna try and test the fuel pressure when I buy a guage, would this be worth it?

just had gearbox recond, problem started when got it back. have now changed oxy sensors to small improvement. car was very low on fuel when in shop and came back with fuel light on, a few people have suggested catalytic converter may b blocked, any simple way to check? and would diag self test pick that up or not?

Have a look at your airflow sensor. It may have dirt on the hot wires. You can remove it from the housing for accurate cleaning. Its another place to look.

seen as though the problem arose just after the automatic was done, could it perhaps be the neutral drive switch have something to do with this? (not sure if the AU's have these)
