Hey guys im about to either make my own custom boot setup or pay a professional to do it but i need some ideas first.
Basically i want to be able to get the spare in and out and be able to use most of the boot. I like the idea that SamsEL has used but i want to face the subs the other way and put in a glass back on it. Ideas are greatly appreciated! Equipment: 2 x 12" subs 3x Amps - 1 for subs - 1 for splits in front doors - 1 for rear fill speakers I also have 2 questions 1 - Will this system need a boot battery or will i get away with just one optima yellow top? 2 - Will Autobarn or Strathfield be able to do a custom boot setup for me or is this a specialist kinda job? |

one batt will be fine, autobahn wont do it but they kno ppl that will, and do it urself its so much more fun im still completing mine but i am so glad i did it myself, buy ur stuff then think about how much room ur gonna need, and btw i think ur only gonna need 2 amps, 1 6ch and one mono block, anyway once u know how much room its gonna take up lay it out in ur boot then get to work if u need a hand shoot me a pm or add me to msn, trouble_012@hotmail.com

ok i might give it a go myself and the list i gave you was the items i have. Im just worried about the wiring up the equipment and tuning it as i have no idea and also i dont have the best wood work skills.
I am keen to give it a go though so what size mdf should i use and what else will i need other then cabling? |

hmm distro blocks, some cable ends preferably the crimp variety, crimpers, alot of screws, drill, saws, jigsaw maby , alot of time, and the tuning side of it is pretty straigh foward once u understand it. wiring is even easier, basically run a phat cable from ur batt, to a distro in ur boot, run mildly thinner cable from ur distro to the + of each amp, run ur remote wire to each amp, run a phat cable from the - of each amp to a common ground point in the car on the chassis, then just run ur rca inputs and ur done. easy as for the amps anyway, and the speakers are just left and right + and - doesnt get much simpler if u need a hand just post a question

stixinc....do it yourself it would be great fun and good experience. if you are willing to pay hundreds or even thousands for a custom set up then go to a specialist.
here are some ideas. NOTE: im not very good at describing things......but i might be able to draw them out for u if i get time.........anyways on with the ideas. im guessing you want to face the front of the subs forward and the rear to the back with a perspex glass showing the magnet.......or was it the other way? anyways. build a large box for your subs....preferably to the right dimensions (not sure on that ask the pros out there) and just sit it behind ur back seat........not sure which way u want the perspex facing. this is all hopefully built where the boot is raised just before the back of the seat. 2 of the amps to power the subs and rear speakers can be placed on the sides of the boot towards the rear lights. that gives u enough room to remove the spare tyre and have room for other things. if u want to make it look better u can use fibreglass to make smooth edges or to make like the boot is one large piece by connecting the 2 amps on either side and the subs in the middle creating like an arch look? sorry if it wasnt that descriptive :S cheers phong =P~

You only need a mono block for the subs and a 4 channel amp for the fronts and rears. I would go for the option of the amps mounted at the rear on the sides than on the rear of the seat like alot do. I have mine mounted under the parcel shelf but that limits the room especially if you are running 2 x 12" subs. Have some pics in my gallery.

i like what you've done MRE 40L but i want to face the subs the other way and have it glass facing the lights. How much mdf did you need to do all of that? Because thats pretty much what i wanted to do. Also how did you get the ends of the seats bits out? Also what do i ancor the side to? What size T-Screws should i use? Thanks guys for your ideas too! All help is greatly appreciated!

if u want the prespex to look frosted u can always use fine sand paper....preferably wet'n'dry sand paper and it will come out frosted. its a good idea especially if u want to put ur initial or something on it but in frosted form.
