Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone can help me with my EF fairmont. I was driving yesterday, everything was normal. Suddenly at the lights, when I had to stop, as soon as I took my foot off the gas, my rpm just went straight down to zero and engine stopped. No problem with starting back again...but as soon as I release my foot off the gas, engine just revs down to zero and dies....any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe your ICS is stuffed.. unscrew it and have a look to see.. it might be blocked or something. There's plenty of threads about it already if you do a search.. pretty sure some have pics.

If ISC gets stuc closed, your car will not idle. QUick check is unplug ISC and wind in idle screw say 2 turns. Start car and it should be idling fast. If this is the case then ISC is at fault. Replace ISC and undo idle screw exactly the same amount ie 2 turns. This way you wont have to reset by using feeler guages, etc.

cheers
Scott

Thanks for the reply guys! Will check ISC...does anybody know how much one ISC cost? Is it necessary to get a new one? Or can I just clean it?
Cheers!
