Its all done and im happy with the result. Started replacing the springs, shocks, struts, camber/caster kit and upper/lower ball joints Sunday. Had a problem with the LH lower control arm bolt for the strut, the bolt was rusted and had to cut the strut bracket to get it and the bush out. I found that if you mark the top seat on the outside for the front springs prior to removing old ones its easier to line up the new springs as the coil doesnt finish in the same spot as the old ones (can see blue mark in the pic) I did need to use a spring compressor to fit the new spring on the right rear as the watts link mount was in the way. It goes in for an alignment on Saturday but it drives so much better now and the steering wheel doesnt jump around when you hit bumps or small potholes. Also the stubs were slighly worn where the wheel bearings seat causing a clunk even with bearings tight, all i did was make some small indentations with a centre punch and all is good now. All i need now is some nice rims but not sure as what type yet.
Sorry about the pics but cant post as yet due to file too big?? (pic is only 50k)!! |

I picked up some Pedders Sports Springs today. Were same price as King super lows at Autobarn. Guy told me Pedders were made of Bluescope steel (BHP), better quality, etc. etc.
But I'm short on cash, lol, don't know what to do. I don't wanna wait till I can get some struts, I'm impatient, but yeah. What should I do?

Pedders springs are King Springs just painted red. You can use the original shocks but may have a hard ride if they bottom out, dont take out the bump stops as you will damage the shocks.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the pedders/king springs bit, lol, coz he seemed an okay bloke (not one to lie). Anyway, I can get someone to pop the springs in cheap. And if I did so, with the original schocks, what do I HAVE to do after that, like a wheel alignment or what?

You should put a camber castor kit in to do the alignment properly.
Also all sales people tell you what you want to hear! I was talking a mechanic Monday and he had this old FE Holden i think and needed new springs but had to be custom made which King Springs can do. Now about a week earlier his mate had the same springs supplied for his FE but through Pedders. This mechanic was told by King Springs "yeah we made some of them just last week". Its a rare car and its not hard to see who supplied Pedders but just in a different color. |

Well if that is the case, I am truely sickened. I see the most dishonest of people in my line of work everyday, stealing s**t. Sometimes I wish God would renew the earth again, even if it meant the death of almost everyone.

The onl thing I goto pedders for is the $14 safety check so they can tell me exactly what's f**k with a car. Then I buy the parts cheap and put them in myself
