ok ppl on my xh ute which /where are the plug/wires to stop the timing advance so i can check the base timing ????

In that case it should be up near the brake booster.

Actually you need to use the ford tool to retard th engine.But you can bridge the 2 inner terminals in the diagnotic connection just under the dash on the drivers side.Its a rectangle fitting but you can bridge the left upper and lower with a washer or alligator clip or anything you can find that can do the trick.But make sure you get the engine up to operating temperature before adjusting the timing.

thanks people, tried the vaccumm hose way and car ran ruff got slower and stalled ??? so i will give the method kruptd suggests a go. i read somewhere the motor should idle up to 1300 rpm and settle back down to normal when you bridge out these terminals , as an indication its in base timing mode, is this the case ???

and where do i get the ford tool or connection for the obd data code reader
