Hi, I have an ELXR8 that has just had lovells super lows put in the rear.
Whenever I put the auto into reverse I get a vibrating sound from around the back of the gearbox area. Initialy I thought It may have been the gearbox itself, but it seems as though something is vibrating against the chassis when I engage reverse.......any ideas ? |

Rear transmission mount. Does it thump around when kicking down? As in when kicking down from a high gear with a bit of acceleration? Or is it only when you reverse? You'll probably find it vibrates in other situations.
Hope this helps |

I thought it was my clutch causing my vibration, but i had a new clutch fitted about 3-4 months ago now, made it better, but there's still a vibration when you just let the cluth grab on no revs. it is more noticable in reverse however.
i was thinking diff, but you're saying rear of gearbox. makes me think it's time to change them uni joints

He has an auto not a manual. And BTW I need 40 posts to use the sell option so please reply. But you may be right about universals except they also tend to vibrate at speed.

yeah it thumps around a tiny bit , but especially in reverse. Put it onto ramps last night and noticed the gearbox mount covered in oil. Funny thing is it seems as though its coming from the passenger side more, so i checked swaybar mounts etc, but nothing was loose. Have recently redone the whole car with nolathane bushes, swaybar and slapped on some Koni's for good measure. I'll see what I come up with on the weekend. Thanks for the reply.
