before any one blasts me i have searched the site and read alot of s**t but things i am not sure off.
i have a ea seires 2 cpi would it be easier 2 get a eb 4ltr ecu and the loom and replace the cpi loom with the mpfi loom i assume that the copmuter loom is only clipped or something to the other wires etc (iam sure that the ecu has little to do with running the aircon and blinkers and that s**t) but i think i know that the ecu runs the cluster and s**t. were is the mpfi ecu located on the drivers site were the cpi one is or in the kick panel on the passenger side??? would a eb ecu 4ltr (wire upped correctly to the mpfi manifold) one respond to the 3.9ltr wngine or not much difference? or to be safe should i get the 3.9 ecu and loom would that make my job much easier.

You only need to get the mpi injector loom. Get one from an EA seriesII MPI car as it will have the 2 tps plugs plus the little pink wire connector for tfi ignition.
You will see left of the air cleaner there is a a big round black plug. Just unplug that and plug the mpi harness in and connect all the sensors up etc. Then just plug the ecu in as normal as if you were replacing it. |

ECU in multipoint and central point are both in the passenger side kick panel.
The computer on the drivers side, where the clutch pedal would normally sit, is the Auto tranny computer. Does anyone know if an mpfi motor will run with a cpfi dissy?

Yeah it will, the mpi dizzy i got from the wreckers had a really worn drive shaft bush and when i installed it the car ran really rough. So i put the CFI one in and drove around for about 1 month before i got an mpi one. didn't really notice any difference. The chopper disk on the MPI one has one smaller plate out of the 6. About half the width where the cfi chopper disk has all the same width plates on the disk. |

I had an EBI auto, took a whole day to do it. Started at 7am and finished at about 4pm. Although i stuffed around with the dizzy and heater hoses for way too long. Also drank way too many beers. The pub opened at 9am that morning. cheers............ |

The brake boost hose is longer on the mpi models from memory, get also the PVC hose and the breather hose at the back of the rocker cover and map sensor hose too. The ISC is simple. Tap into the existing grey/white wire on the cfi isc plug and run some wire up to the main black plug and connect it too the grey/white wire on the mpi loom near the plug. You will see what i mean when you connect the mpi loom plug into the CFI plug, there will be a missing pin, this mod will solve this problem and enable continuity. |
