WARNING: this is a very long winding post that many people will find boring and other will find an absolute joke so reader beware!

Well ive thought about trying to get el climate control working on an old 74 coupe but it seems that it would be a hell of alot of work for not to much gain.

So thinking along those lines again. What if i were able to get my hands on a smashed el fairmont v8 and i wonder if i could transfer the engine, wiring loom and ecu and smartlock bem across to my coupe.

That would make things like climate control alot easier to do as i would have it all there including heater box and a/c compressor on the engine.

Running also aftermarket electric windows and centrel locking which these could be connected up to my loom inplace of the original el ones.

Basically i could pretty much use alot of the loom including taillights interior lights and tacho, oil temp. Speedo wouldnt work though....

I heard years ago of someone putting an XD dash into there xb sedan so maybe i could even get the xh dash into a coupe, which would save alot of custom dash work to fit a el cluster. Then i could take a leaf out of snap's book and put the climate control in like he has including the trip computer.

I imagine there are many things i havnt considered here so if anyone can think of anything put it down and well look at a way around it. Im sure there will be plenty of problems along the way

My dash is nearly out of the landau so ill get the tape measure out tmrw and look at size differences between my xh dash and the landau one.

If it looks close then next weekend ill make a trip to the wreckers to get a crappy xf one to dummy fit. Ill grab a few more pics next weekend and throw on and keep an eye out here if your interested cause ill update it slowly....or really fast if it turns out it will be too much of a C*** to even start :)

Thanks for reading
Flame away fella's :)

One thing that concerns me here is the fact ef/au dash's come out so far, probobly due to airbags and such.

I really dont want to loose too much cabin space as coupes are small enough

there was also an XW/XY in street machine or PFM or one of the car mags that had most of an EF/EL XR dash and interior (and driveline in it) - and possibly a mustang with most of an AU interior and driveline if memory serves me correct,

yeah im not really looking at getting that coupe, Ive already got my landau but i found that one on ebay and thought the pics are a good example.

I doubt he would have it working and yes it is abit pricey for a coupe with no matching engine or engine watsoever and still having rust.
