Not sure if anyone can help, but...
Got an 1998 EL Futura Auto Sedan. Got it back from auto trans mechanic, drove it a couple of times & 3 days later it wouldn't start. Cranks over, doesn't fire.
My dilemma is that I want to sell it, so don't really want to fork out for a W/shop manual at this point.
Fuel pump runs briefly when switched on, so suspect electrics, not fuel.
Have checked today & no spark to the plugs, so seems ignition is the culprit.
Havent checked Distributor or coil yet. It took me 25 mins to find the stupid coil, (who in their righjt mind puts a coil underneath the mainfold so no-one but a microbe could get at it anyway???).
Where is the crank sensor located on these, or did they go with triggering in the dizzy?
So anyone know of any common issues with these models?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Anyone wanna buy? around $4200, any offer considered. Apart from not running at the moment its a sound car.

A few people recently have had problems with coils disintegrating. They should be possible to change with the inlet manifold in place, try coming from under the car behind the steering rack, and you should be able to see it?

Yeah I figured I'd have to come from underneath. But good to know the coil may be at fault, because thats not the most common problem when ign won't work.
Now I just have to move 2 cars, push the ford down the drive (cos its still in front of the house where I parked it last week), & then get it up on the stands to get underneath (Oh the fun never stops! - or maybe I'm just getting old. Time was I can remember when I'd spend three nights a week under the car & had fun.)

No crank sensor in EL's Tony, ignition wise as mentioned check the coil, also TFI module and hall effect sensor in the dizzy.
Check the coil output with a spark plug while cranking, just to rule out dizzy cap, etc. Otherwise work your way from the input of the coil in, as well as from the spark plug end of the system inwards as well.

Before all that, check the CRT LP fuse, particularly if you have no smartlock light and no dome light.

Yep, it looks like its the coil.
Finally got it down the drive, into the carport, &up on stands. Checked 12v at the coil OK, so stuck another lead on the coil & got my son to crank the engine while i held the lead near the crancase - nothing. Not even a glimpse of a spark. Pulled the coil off & tried it on a battery, no spark. I'll probably get my wife to call by an auto electrician tomorrow, just to confirm its shot.
Anyway I'll reply when I confirm the result.

Oh Well...
The saga continues. Auto Electrician tested the coil & said its OK.
Guess I'll have to pull the distributor out.
& I'm assuming that means I have to shift the inlet manifold to get at it???

BUT first I'm gonna check out that CRT LP fuse which Snap0964 mentioned (although I do have a Smartloc light & dome light).

u dont need to shift the inlet manifold.. but its tricky.. my mate is a pro at it

sounds like a dizzy problem..
what about cap/rotar button?

Oh Well... on your recomendation, I'll give it a go with the manifold left inplace. I could see it would be tight, but just didn't want to do all the extra work if it wasn't necessary.

haha today i had to replace a tiny little heater hose. About 15cm in length but was causing soooo many hassles like 1L a day of coolant. Taking all the air box and crap out helps alot.
