Whats a way to wire up the eletric fuel pump on my 302w in a XL ute.
I have it wired to the ignition with an on of switch but i would like to wire it so i can sit with the ignition on and the pump will not pump.
Is the coil the place to wire it to ? or is there some fangled switch out there i have to buy.

mmm a relay would be good idea

hook the trigger wire of the realay to the ign on
NOT ACC
this way when u turn the car to start or ON it will get teh pump pumping fuel and being a carbied car ( i presume ) the carb needle should handle the small amount of pressure the pump produces

Relay

30 = output this wire runs to your pump
87 = power in connect directly to the batt "+"
85 = trigger connect you valve wire from your gas switch to this
86 = earth connect to the chassis

I have an Apexus gas switch. It has three pins pulse/valve/12V

Pulse - connects to ingition coil "-" side or tacho wire from ignition box
Valve - connects to 85 on your relay (mine is a thin green wire)
12V - connects to batt "+"
