hey
Ive just finished my custom parcel shelf and bought some new pioneer 6" speakers to go in. When I went to put new speakers in, I realised id maybe a tiny mistake in shelf, and the magnet on the speakers is touching the metal chassis parcel shelf underneath wood. Can anyone tell me if this will be bad for the speakers at all? I am unsure what the magnet does and if touching metal constantly will be bad for it ? |

no real harm, although you may find the speakers will vibrate against the metal of the parcelshelf

It will do alot. The magnet must not touch any metal as the metal will draw the strength from the magnet and the effeciency of the speaker will drop. In other words the low mids and bass will be of less volume.

Hmmmmm... May explain the lack of rear speakers in my ute, havn't had time to mount them, so the magnets are just holding them against the metal! |

apart from sound, will it damage the speaker at all? Because I plan to fix it, but if its going to damage speakers ill do it sooner rather then later

place sound sound mat (same as the packing blanket's removalists use) under the speaker, will stop vibrations and so much magnetic transfer.

The touching itself wont damage it but delivering more power to the speaker to compensate may.
