I had it off a while ago, when i put it back on i put loctite on the thread, no matter what i try i cant get it off! Any suggestions? I realise its a left hand thread, but the problem im having is i cant hold the pulley behind and get a spanner on it?

I bet you don't do that again, the engine rotation tightens it up so locktite is not needed. You need to make a tool from a piece of 4mm flat steel togo over the bolts holding the pulley onto the pump. There is a diagram of how to make one in the workshop manual. :P

Try wedging a large screwdriver between the waterpump pulley bolts to hold the pulley still then get the spanner on the fan nut. Has worked for me in the past.

Actually it's a right hand thread. The water pump is reverse rotation which is why it's a std RH thread.

I always thoght it was a left hand thread too :? But anyway we tried to get the one off my EB (both ways!). Finished up removing the water pump (which we were replacing anyway and belting the f**k out of it. Smashed the body of the pump and put vice grips on shaft and big spanner on hex head. Still wouldn't come off. So out come the 9 inch grinder. We cut the shaft at the fan. Removed the pulley and put thermos and a new water pump on. Fixed!!!

Pretty rough though!
