hi all,
i have a DF LTD interior to chuck in my futura, however there are no electric windows in the back (durr....). due to the armrests etc, there is no option to keep the std winders in there, so a full electric window conversion would have to be done. i just wondered if anyone has done so, and what parts etc would be needed? cheers

u could cut a whole for window winders but then u will have the electric windows whole eh.
well i guess u need the switches door and console rear regulators and the loom to connect it all up |

nah i cant keep the winders, as the rear armrests are where the winders are! so i'd need the front console for the 4 electric switches, the 2 regulators... and what else? sounds like a friggen pain in the a***...

The mod isn't too hard. Even I was able to help Waggin install his power windows 2 years ago! The hardest part was getting the old winder mechanism out (they are held in with rivets). Waggin ended up buying an angle grinder to get them out

Fraser - If you source the electric regs (~$150-$200 for both from wreckers) you don't need much more to do the conversion. However, two things that make the job difficult :
1) The rivet in the skeleton of the door is not present for the upper armrest screw on low series EF/EL's (ie Gli and Footooras). Adding this rivet is quite difficult if you don't have a rivet tool to do this. 2) Running the wiring through the b pillar and into the rubber gromet into the door cavity is a pain in the a$$ - WD40 / RP7 is your friend here Obviously you would need to source the centre switch console...but having a futura, you will have the elec window plug already there...so that's a plus for doing the conversion. Personally, I'd wait til you got grey trims and seats before doing the mod...I've already told you my 2c on a grey / cappucino theme / horror story hehe Cheers, Steve |
