Hey everybody,

I have a BF XR6 Turbo with the premium audio. I have upgraded the front speakers to Pioneer 2-Ways and the sub to a Fusion 8", but I still get some distortion at high volume.

I have noticed that the sub will do the lower frequencies VERY well, so I want to put a low pass filter in between the amp and the sub. I have researched it to death, but cannot find anyone who stocks the coil and capicator that I need.

Any ideas anybody?? (Before you suggest it, I do not want to (read - am not allowed to) change the headunit or amplifier.

I have been to Jaycar and ordered the necessary components, they are -

Jaycar part number to get your 60hz lowpass 12db 4ohm:

RY6936 = 400uf cap
LF1336 = 9mh inductor

I will install them and let you know how they turn out.

Well I've made the Low Pass Filter and it works a treat. Only took about 10 minutes to solder it all up, and it is worth every cent. I can even turn the bass setting on the headunit back up to normal.

The stereo now gives out more bass than an 8" Free Air sub has any right to do - it's absurd.

Of course the sub no longer does the 'high' bass, but god DAMN does it do the low bass well. The 5x7's handle the 'doof doof' well enough, and the sub takes care of the rumble.

If you want a simple and cheap mod that really works well, try this!!
