my NA 4 speed auto is about to kick it in, and i'm going to convert to manual. I hear that ef/el manual would be best but i also need to know how and what I need to do to the ECU as apparently Fairlane of this model did not make a computer for manual. Is there a tech document on this site somewhere? as I have searched but i can't seem to find one......
all info. on this subject will be greatly appreciated. Taylornator, 1990 NA Fairlane |

if it is a simple 6 mpfi use a falcon manual ecu or v8 ecu if it is a v8 (xr8)

I would assume that the ECU from a 3 speed NA would work as good as a manual's ECU for a 5 spd conversion. The 3 speed was not controlled by an ECU & as such did not communicate with the engine ECU (speed, temp, gear etc). All NA fairlanes also came with 6cyl & MPFI, no CFI engines made it into the up spec cars, so no issues there.

I've been told, could be BS, that the box ecu is separate from the engine ecu. as long as you remove the box ecu, it should work fine.
