would it be worthwhile using the 2nd tranny cooler from a automatic with the heavy duty tow pack as an engne oil cooler?

I dunno. Mite be difficult to plumb up.
I once used a condensor for the air con on my xd as a trans cooler! Very effective! Held about 4 litres of trans fluid though

Any idea what kind of pressure the transmission fluid is pumped to the cooler at? Oil pressure is anywhere from 20psi to 80psi (i think this the point at which the pressure release kicks in on our windsors?).
If its similar then may be worth a shot? Not sure if it's warranted tho - id rather be cooling the trans fluid. PS. By the "2nd" cooler - do you mean the side tank in the radiator is the 1st... or do you have 2 external coolers? EF V8 has one - i assume as a result of the f**k OFF towbar hanging under the rear of the car!

auto trans cooler isnt a full flow design. Works off the pressure relief/bypass side. therefore quite low pressure compared to what it would have to deal with on an engine. Engine oil coolers are typically full flow type. Buy an off the shelf engine oil cooler, and make sure you get the oil filter adapter and the oil temp thermostat
