i reckon its just a tuning thing now. to start it i just give it some throttle while cranking and even though it pops and backfires a bit it will fire up on the first or 2nd attempt. it will then idle reasonably well. the only thing touched is the cold start enrichment. called in to tuner and he went about 10% richer so maybe needs to go a tad more.

if it was the fuel pump relay causing low fuel pressure it wouldn't run well or idle.

it wouldn't rev if the fuel pump wasn't going... if it was turning off, you'd be noticing flat spots every now and then. Or car randomly idling and then dieing. Happened to me also.
