Guys,
Just wondering if the factory EL door insulation (Foam Liner) serves well enough as sound deadener. Would it be better to do the doors properly, or is this stuff Ford has used good enough?

do it properly, factory is only foam, actual deadener is tar :D

I see.
Would there actually be any benefit in using this tar if i was just using the factory speaker holes and not door pods?
What does this stuff really do? Does it improve sound? Reduces outside noise?

both, it acts as a barrier to road noise, reflects in car noise (ie speaker sound) and stops panel vibration (cleaner sound) i have lined my boot with it if u look at my boot install thread. makes a big diff.

I can't recommend sound deadening enough - anyone serious about their sound will say the same thing. Even in factory systems, it helps alot - as cooki has explained, it stops vibrations and can also be used to seal up holes to make the cavity more like an enclosure (well as much as possible anyway).

The foam stuff is good for what it is, but it is going to assist more-so with reducing road noise than better speaker response.

Where would I find this sound deadening stuff and how hard is it remove the trims. I remember in older cars when you pulled the trimm off the little plastic pins would break or pull from the trim damaging it.
