a proverb i live and stand by

" Good not Cheap , Cheap not Good "

You generally get what u pay for especially when it comes to panel and paint. Yellow pages and let your fingers do the walking but they all generally charge around the same due to costs ie, spray booth, labour etc.

schnoods is right, you get what you pay for. 5-6 grand isnt bad for a full metal respray. Is the body perfect or does it need work before it gets sprayed?

1 thing to try is go around to well respected refinishers and talk to them bout getting your car done, have a look around the factory and watch the guys painting then come back when they knock off and grab one of the painters that looked good an just offer him cash work. Spray painters dont get paid heaps, the company does

You can get plenty of cheap blow overs but i've never heard of a cheap full metal respray. Alot of panel shops will only do a few of these a year as they take so long and there times better spent looking after insurance company jobs. 5 grand sounds like a great price too.

and when things go wrong do u get frustrated and curse on the top of ur lungs? great anger management i say.

i prefer to do it myself but getting equipment is expensive =(....such as compressor, spray painting kit (relatively cheap) and that electric sander thingy that u sand the paint back with........

If you dont want to spend much money on your xc then maybe you should sell it, youll get more for it with the original paint job than you will with a half a*** one

Or hire the compressor from a hire place n take a day or so to learn how to spray (plenty of guides around if u look hard enuf). Use a spare panel so u can spray n rub till your happy with the finish your getting (make sure you have an elec sander for this...... believe u me). So much cheaper n then you can say you did it yourself :)
