Hi All,

I've got a problem with the one I love...

yes. My car.

The speedo is over-reading 10 km/h, while the odometer is also over-reading by 10 km as well.

The average km/h reading by the tripmeter is pure fiction - about half of what it should be.

Any ideas of where the fault could be?

My thoughts turn to the speedo sender unit.

What does everyone think?

Will

i was also going to get the odo fixed by a gauge shop after that and take off about 20,000k's

Hi All,

I was wondering last night if it could be because of my wheels - 17 inches with 235/45's.

A mate of mine said his 20 inch wheels on his EB were causing an overead of 20 km/h.

Any ideas?

Will

the 235/45r17 (643.3mm) are pretty much the same dia as 205/65r15s (647.5mm) so shouldn't be to much of a problem
20 i would imagine stuff it up
i blamed it on dodgy digital speedo but my LTD with the same speedo seems to read correct

A 20k differance would require a huge differance in tyre size

As blueprinted said. 235/45 would give you a speedo error of just 0.6%
If your mates running 20s theen he would need a 275/20 or 235/30 to keep his speedo accurate.

Your problem is likely to be the speedo drive or the speedo drive gear.

Changing the cluster should not make any difference, unless the needle is in the wrong position at zero.
