If it's original it will be a blue motor.

I wanted to know the block type because of the distributor pilot size. Late XD-XE blocks have a smaller pilot hole(the hole in the block below the distributor gear) therefore you can't use a late electronic distributor from the XD-XE engine in your early block.
In your case you would need to go with an aftermarket electronic unit with vacuum advance type...Crane,Accell,MSD, Scorcher etc etc. Don't touch cheap rubbish like procomp. Pete. |

I ran a blue block in my XD with XD dizzy, but i got an electronic dizzy (Remote module type) from an XC and got the shaft fitted to the XD dizzy to stop it floating.
Although i did run the std XD shaft in the blue block for a cpl of years without any probs. Black block shaft is 500 thou, Blue is 530 thou. |

ahhh riiight the basic one. Does it have a remote module mounted in the engine bay with cooling fins and a transistor? If so this in the XC type electronic ignition...it's like the XD-E one but with a remote module. These are good so I wouldn't bother buying anything else unless you wanted multiple spark. A Crane Hi-6 or MSD brand multi-spark unit will work with the stock electronic dizzy. You should be able to find another stock dizzy with vac advance on it and either fit it to yours or use it complete. Pete. |
