my fairlane wont start ignition most of the time unless i hold the auto stick firmly forward and to the lefthand corner of the gearbox. ive had the same problem with my old au forte too.. i dont really care about it, just wondering if its common/ something i can get fixed easily.
i havent taken it to a tranny guy cos i wasnt sure what a guy in a dress could do for it anyway. actually it doesnt bother me so much so i havent really worried about it, just curious. edit~ NC fairlane. |

Its your inhibitor switch..
You can fix it yourself or get another new or second hand one and it'll solve the problem . throw me an email and ill send you instructions on how to re-co yours if your interested as its not up on the site currently still |

would this be the reason for the sloppy gearstick? it can wobble around a bit

Sounds like a loose gearstick which is making the inhibitor switch tell lies.
i.e. a bit too much play in the stick and the inhibotor switch is providing TCM (is the NC a V8?) with a signal saying its in reverse. But then, may just be ihnibitor switch and Fuzion's doco makes it a fairly straightforward thing to fix. And he doesnt wear a dress either
