Not many have undertaken it cause there is little to gain from the money that needs to be spent.

"I want a really powerfull 6cyl EL that cant be run on the road.....what should i do....spend 20,000 getting a ba engine in the el and doing it up or spending 10,000 on turbo for currant engine."

Instead of changing the name to stockmods.com maybe we could try dreamersinc or www.superfastblowmymatesvncarforumfor17 ... ndthen.com

:) nah im still happy with fordmods.....better than pornmods thats for sure :P

Thats the point though - none of you have any idea what it will cost. Where do you get this $20,000 figure from?

Ive seen several BA turbo engine and gearboxes for sale for $7500 complete. $2500 will get you an EMS ECU installed and tuned. Ive seen sump modifications that cost $100 that will let the engine clear the k-frame, say $1000 for bonnet mods to clear the rocker and your loonging at $11,000 for a properly built turbo engine with aftermarket engine management that is also a little unique. I have also heard that the BA edit can remove all the security and CAN bus stuff so it might be easier that we think to keep the standard ECU which is going to reduce this amount further. Compare that to the other kits out there. Aftermarket kits for the SOHC engine start at $4000-$6000 from snort or TSA or $5000-$7500 for CAPA S/C kits and that doesnt include internal modifications to the engine or gearbox and also doesnt include an aftermarket ECU. The look at the potential of each setup, look at the dyno figures that the BA turbo guys get with just a tune and injectors. Look at the aftermarket support for the BA/BF turbos's.

And who cares if he is 17. Maybe someone who is of fordmods approved age will read this thread of find it in a search and decide not to do it.

I think maybe we should open a new section for these kind of questions.

I thought you could do anything in SA as you don't have the rego check every year and looking at the crap in NSW with SA plates they look dangerous.

just because you guys need rego checks every year doesn't make much difference. i bought my current car from nsw complete with roadworthy and yet it did not pass here when i tried to change rego to sa. too low, tint too dark.

as i understand it rego checks can be done by any number of mechanics. you can't tell me there aren't signatures and ticks going on pink slips of unroadworthy cars.

slightly off topic. sorry.

back on topic

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales ... istance=25

by the time you add up all the cost you wouldn't be much behind the real thing. not as unique but way less hassle and you can register it and drive it every day of the week

Well.... I know of a couple of minor problems but a few mods should see me through, like I know I'll need a bulge in the bonnet and I guess, I should make it outta perspex so I could see through it, the next is, I think I'd need dual wheels up front for the extra weight, and third I think I'd need to tow a fuel tanker behind me for the economy would suffer somewhat, but imagine the TOOORRRKKK!!......

When I read the posts in this tread I think Im the last one acting righteous

Yes I know that 99% of the people who come on here and ask something ambitions will never end up following it through, but I dont see the point in posting garbage and flaming them because of it.

And yes there are heaps of threads on this topic, enough maybe to even justify a sticky *cough* http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31883 *cough*

Yes, I agree that deserves a sticky :)

But if they fail to read that and still post, the flaming and general s**t becomes justified
