Umm..
Any ideas what would be the best shocks to use with King lowered springs for my EL falcon 6cyl.? Should i retain my current Monroe GT Gas shocks with these new springs? Will the GT Gas units be too firm for lowered suspension? The new springs will lower the car about 30-35mm. What would also be the best camber kit for this alteration? Ta. |

The gas shocks will make the ride pretty uncomfortable, but this is a fairly common combination. what about trying to get some xr shockers from a wrecker? they'd be cheap and are designed to handle that sort of spring?

A guy from King Springs actually recommended a set of Ultima shocks. Are these any good? Has anyone heard of these before or have them?

I bought King lows and GT Gas and its not as stiff as a Commodore with FE2 suspension. It's a nice firm ride but not uncomfortable.

The bloke told me it will lower the car around 30-35mm with the King Lows. Does this make a big difference in the way the car handles? Or is it just cosmetic?

I was also recomended to use Ultima shocks with King Springs!! The handling will improve as the centre point of gravity is reduced.
I have GT gas and the ride isnt as hard as some say. Maybe others are bottoming out on the bump stops. |

No it makes the car handle better. Less body roll and with 17s it feels like the car is glued to the road. Much nicer handling car. Looks much better as well.

Just another thing.
How does lowering your car effect your insurance? Are insurance companies funny when it comes to mods like this? |

insurance shouldn't be too much of a problem as it will still be legal. pretty much xr height and spec. xr's had same length shock as std height so ride and handling will be fine.

lower rear springs require shorter rear shocks. Monroe dont make a shorter rear shock for falcons even though they list one. It is the same part number as standard length. Monroe gas did not trap my pedders low springs so I had to buy pedders short shockers. If you want to try monroe gas then I have a pair of rears done <1000km $60.

I will probably end up replacing all shocks anyway. Maybe Ultimas shortened.

No cash - Monroe gas
Plenaty of cash - get bilstein or similar quality. Handling will be insane with swaybars etc... Andrew
