hi all, i am making a box for my kicker 12" solo-baric sub, and am wondering, if the box i make, should i have it ported or not? all im looking for is a good bassy feel thru the car and dont know how much porting or not porting it will affect that. but yeh, should i port, or not?

sealed boxes are generally better for sound quality, ported are better for SPL

thats it if this is for bassy everyday listening i wouldnt go ported unless you really want a bassy system or have a decent loud clear front stage that can counteract the loss of sound quality in the sub and drown out some of the cone wobbles.

you better off with sealed, you tend to get better sound quality. If you don't have the right port size the whole system can sound pretty bad.

so majority says to not port the box, so ill agree, i was hoping for that answer as the box will be more compact. thanks for that people, much appreciated
