thats where im thinking of going. i spoke really really breafly to one of the teachers last year and he said he wasn't sure if they were going to get funding again. was it worth doing? i race karts and i won't be able to next year, and i thought, who wouldn't want a driver that knows a bit already? but if they start squabling and such its a bit of a turn off

I'm looking at a specialised motorsport course at a uni in wodonga, i'm heading there in august to check it out and sign up etc. Heard nothing but good things about this course and you get direct links to the motorsport companies and race teams etc.

Yeah I'm doing it and its not all its cracked up to be. i don't know about your uni but If you want to sit on your a*** and just drive the cae then you will be very dissapointed. Each team has between 5 and 8 drivers. And they all put the hard yards in getting the car ready.
I see you sent me a pm. I'm still trying to word a detailed response so I'll get back to you within a day or 2. Let me know what you have heard about the team and the competition in the mean time ok. |

Good to hear. Bear in mind that there will be in between 20 and 50 other like minded souls. Its a very good team building and organisational exercise that will do wonders on your resume, you just happen to build and race a car in the process as well.
As far as I know, Entry into the SAE compettion is only permitted to university students who are members of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Don't worry if your not a member of the SAE as the team signs up all the new members a few months before the comp. The competition came about around 1985 when the car companies in the US were downright p****d off with the extremely low standard of the engineers graduating from uni and landing a job at the big 3 (Chrysler, GM and Ford) so they devised a competition with the SAE to lift the standard of graduate engineers seeking a position in the automotive industry. I'll post up some links to some cool sites this arvo when I get home from uni. |
