hey guys ive been reading up a few threads and im gonna lower my Ef with just super lows all around for the time being, will it be ok going back to it to add shocks ? will my car be alright for a while without new shockers?
is putting springs in your self an a sort of an easy job? It seems it would be alright to tackle to do. anyway, cheer's guys |

If your going to lower the car and want to cut costs or break it down then wait till you have all the parts to complete the job other wise you could wind up in trouble with shocks bottoming out and doing damage. By all means buy the stuff seperately if finances are short but put it all in together and save extra work.

You also should remember that lowing does change the alignment of the wheels. you will probably need a camber kit in order to adjust the negative tow from it. i would assume you will be getting about a 6 degree total that you will WANT to reduce.

Is it just an EF Falcon or the Ghia (ghia is heavier). I recently put in superlows and i recieved a minor defect for it being too low with super lows(approx 15mm under 100mm). I now have heavy duty lows in the rear and left the superlows in the front. It couldnt be determined if the springs were faulty and over compressed or just the extra weight but they have been returned to King Springs to be assesed.
If you want to keep the original shocks and a minor wheel alignment (no camber kit needed, only shims) Go with Lows only. It will sit the same as the XR's. |

camber kit allows for extra shims.
So depends on your available thread wether you need it. I would be interested in knowing what your last alignment figures were.

You should use shorter shockers with the lowered springs to keep the springs trapped ( they cant fall out because the shocker is in the middle, but they will ride up on the side of the lower bucket). Dont forget to use bump stop rubbers on the shocker. Shockers dont come with them so use your old ones or buy some if you dont have them. Bump stops are important on lowered cars to stop shockers bottoming out and destroying themselves. Best to do shockers and springs at the same time.

Alright guys
shockers are springs at the same time. If i get a setup of lows on front and superlows on the rear, would i just get shockers for the back? or both? cheer's |

put kings lows in my ef and kept the standard shocks. had it in for 2 years never had any problems even with 3 in the back
did get a wheel alignment at the same time. |

ok i got a question
ive had me EF lowered (on king sprins lows) for almost 2 years now. still looks tops. now i didnt replace my shockers at the time. but my ride is pretty rough. i dont have a camber kit either. is there any way that i can smooth my ride. howcome the XR's etc, sit that low but are still so pleasant to drive? over even the smallest bumps it rattles you and its sorta annoying and takes away some of the pleasure from driving?! thanks

at least change your front shocks with you springs
why pull the out and put them back 2 times the back should be alright

also forgot to mention thats its got nothalen bushes
in terms of the shocks, will that correct some of my ride quality? a lot of suspension places reckon they dont but in shorter shocks for only the 'lows' (ie its about 1.5inch drop). shorter shocks are for the superlows.

ok guys this is getting confusing. Too many ppl have different opinions. I'm thinking of lowering my EF as well. Now i wanna put lows in the front, and super lows in the back. If i do this can i get away with just a good wheel alignment, or is a camber kit vital.?

I went the lowest legal from pedders.
If you have enough thread left on your bolt to put extra shims in it might avoid a camber kit. Bit the standard isnt the same as a camber kit as it doesnt allow a different angle. When you lower your car there just isnt enough play to adjust the camber, caster. If you worried about price. a camber kit isnt all that dear, I got mine for about $130 and hired a hoist at my local mechanic for $20. and since your changeing springs anyway, its an ideal time to change them. You will have trouble on the passenger side. as there is crap in the way. People tend to find Cracking them from up top and doing the remainder underneith is the way to go. and other people say the opersite.
