Hi guys, I am just in the process of fitting better cold air snorkels to the toy and noticed the air filter needs a clean, it is a BMC pod type.
I haven't ever cleaned & reused a filter before ,and am after some tips on what products to use to clean it, but most importantly the re oiling steps/products to use.
cheers kenny.

Try supercheap, repco, autobahn and try the k+n filter service kit. They work well or just blow em out with the air compressor.

Yeah kenny go get one of the K & N filter service kits, they are pretty cheap and you get s**t loads of cleans out of them.
I used one at work placement, they are really easy and simple to use, just a hose, and time is pretty much all is required.

They reckon never use air to blow em clean, fcukes up the material, cos their sposed to be moist with oil,and washing is the best way to clean em.

I use Sellys Sugar Soap, the hand spray jobbie, spray the clean side of the filter with heaps of sugar soap, then let stand for 10 minutes, dirty side down,so that helps all the siht falls off...

Then rinse under a running tap,the clean side again, allow to dry,re oil with the K&N stuff and thats it...

The poxy trees here drop this siht at certain times of the year,so if the filter has got heaps of siht on it,I usually give it a few good taps, dirty side down, and that dislodges heaps...

vik...But I still reckon, they breath better, cos they don't filter as good

if it is a bmc the filter element should be like a sponge type if so just a bucket of warm soapy water then rinse well with water and let dry in the sun then treat it again will the filter oil if its paper throw it away and get a hi flo filter as they are the sponge type you treat with the filter oil

just make sure you don't over oil it, did that once, didn't flow well at all.

Thanks guys, I used diluted dish washing liquid then rinsed it from the inside, it was so dirty I had to repeat a couple of times until the water was clear.
as for oiling it thats tommorow's adventure!

Vik351 he has a BA XR8 which has a pod. He has a BMC wasable pod so yeah the things you said are a bit difficult with it being a form of cone shape, bit hard to put it clean side up etc.
Good to hear it all went smoothly kenny, just read the instructions on the oil real carefully as said over oiling can be bad for the engine and breathing etc.
Its really simple to use.

you're not wrong ... these things aren't that easy to get into all of the tight spots in the end of the cone

Bloody pod eh,then spray heaps of sugar soap from the inside, and wash with clean water from the inside, wouldn't dry it in the sun either, the UV rays would not be good over time...

better still fcuk the thing off, stick to s panel job and do this to your air box
