Hi.
The central locking on my mates EF seems to have a mind of it's own. The problem is that sometimes when he locks the car via the remote, every now and again the central locking mechanism does not engage, but instead it thinks that the door is still open and disengages itself, even though all doors are fully closed. Does anyone know what might be causing this or perhaps someone has had similar experiences? Your comments on this will be more than helpful. Thanks. |

Are you talking about the door light switches? Does the central locking actually operate on the switch position?

door switchers are for a few things like the warning tone for when your lights are left on, al so turn the consol lights on and im postive that the centrel locking whould use them too. thats the only thing i can think that would make it disengages itself
so you need to start buy replacing the door swichers , if it happens more when its the drivers door only been used they try changing that switch 1st, if it still does it then try next commonly used door. |

Im having the same problem Hazzard. I get out of my car, hit the lock button on my remote, and sometimes it would unlock itself. This is bad when im at the shops...walk away unaware my car is still unlocked..
Its gotten so bad now and so annoying, i have to stay with the car to check if its locked itself.. Its probably the central locking mechanism in the EF/EL. Actuator needs changing. I just cant be bothered changing it hehe. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=74
