maybe the fan/thermos is/are buggered. had the problem on my ED, when driving along the temp was fine but when stopped it started to climb all the way to the red... which sucked in summer in traffic with the air con on

I'd go with the radiator.Have a look at th fins might have dirt and rubbish blocking airflow and possibly a blocked radiator.

Sounds like the fan isn't working. If its viscous hub try letting it idle and see if the fan will stop when you CAREFULLY stick a screwdriver or the like in it. If the hub is still ok it should howl like a banshee. If its got thermos just let it idle for a while and see if they kick in.

I'd also be looking at the fan/s. If it was the radiator blocked up it would run hot whilst cruising on a highway. As the problem only occurs when stopped or travelling slow then natural air flow through the radiator isn't the problem.
