this is a hot topic.. ford aparently has a few brake switch setups, none seem to work very well..

in an ed futura which switch is the brake light switch and which one is for the cruise control. (top or bottom)

do newer series have two plugs on the one switch, and why are they all so crap and stuff up all the time.

can i put in a (2 in one combo) into my ed to stop A: the brake lights failing, and B: get the cruise control to set (it turns on but wont set speed)

They are only meant to break every 100-150,000kms or so and at $8, I would call it just regular maintenance. Just replace it every time she fails..

$18?? The f**kers at Ford charged me $30 for one. Also I wouldnt say they break every 150,000km.. My car has done 160k/km and its been through about 5 of the damn things. A mates dads EF also goes through em fairly often.

hey i went through a couple there for awhile and went to the wreckers and pulled a couple off some wrecks and found i didnt have the black sleeve that goes on the pin , it tacks up the slack in the switch before i think there was to much movement cause the switch to s**t itself anyways check it out you might be missin that bit too.

$18.00 from autobarn and a lil less from repco, altho none around me AFAIK.. lol
One of my uncles payed like $80.00 from ford so dont complain, I feel sorry for him, as that was uninstalled price, altho going back about 2yrs.

hey guys wb to everyone

well my brake switch hasn't failed on my yest (touch wood) and i have had the car for around 40,000. Yet the old man's EF fairmont wagon goes through em about every 20,000 or so. dunno maybe they just like women (have their moods)

If it will turn on, it wont be a faulty brake switch causing it not to set. Its more than likely the switch in the steering wheel, the resisitor, wiring, or its not sensing the speed and can therefore not set it.

yeah ill pull it apart, have a look, also need to install a "brake" switch on the clutch pedal for C/C too, ( so dont rev its box of if ya put foot on clutch)
