Thanks mate.
my understanding was with timing there was nothing you can do with EF's as they aint dizzy all done electronicly ? also car just got new plugs + leads. and also k+N air filter + oil filter... running 10w60 castrol edge... car has done 160,000 should that oil be ok ? or not ? |

I did fuel filter, plugs, leads, new core pack, injectors cleaned, 2 sensor, head done and the f***er still missed and it was traded in at a car yard for a BA.
I know it dosent help much but thats what i did and still had the problem |

Lol u think had problems. Mine does it too. not only have i changed the plugs, leads had coil pack tested, injectors cleaned, head gasket replaced, and new bottom end. mine still misses to this day. went to my G/fs dad who is the local raa bloke. he ordered the new part as he said its a common problem so in a week it should all be fixed along with my fuel consumption prblems being fixed too which he narrowed down to both my oxy sensor and the intake being riddled with vacume leaks.
new bottem end was because bearings were failing. |

Check you leads and plugs if they need replacing, replace them.Check your fuel filter.Get your injectors flow tested and checked.Check the tension on your inlet manifold bolts, spray some water down along the inlet gasket,to see if the gasket is leaking.I would also suggest a engine compression test and also a cylinder leak down test to.This is where you fill each cylinder with air and listen throught the intake exhaust and sump. But if you have a dead miss i would look at the coil pack it might have a faulty section.
Have you narrowed down the missfire to a cylinder??By slowly removing each plug lead whilst engine is running.

Well guy's mechanic seems to think new set of irdium (sp) spark plugs and leads will fix it , but i only JUST replaced them about 1000k's ago....
but he insists so i ask what if it still miss's ? he says then coil pack .. he told me if a coilpack is dodge it will usualy come up on the diagnostics thing.. i will be mighty p****d if i fork out these irdium plugs and new decent leads , and the f**k still misses , cause that will be about 200 + a new coilpack what i assume will be 100... or so... what are you're thoughts ? mechanic is right ?? cause i honestly think coilpack would be the smart thing to replace first considering i just replaced the other items ... ??? |
