Where is the temp sensor in an EF V8 Fairmont and how do I check it

IIRC it is in a heater tube near the front of the inlet manifold.

I can't remember the resistance values from cold to hot. I am sure there is a thread on here somewhere, posted by me, that has these figures. I am thinking about 180 - 200 for cold and 30 - 40 ohms for hot. Not 100% sure on this.

Do a search for it, but that may have been on FM1 (before the great crash)

Found a reference.

The range is 228 - 40 Ohms for 40 - 120*c. I wasn't far off in my original post.

It is a VDO 320.065 sender.

Ooops typo. Should be 282 - 40 Ohms.

No worries, so anything out of that range get a new sensor? What do I set my multimeter to and where do I stick the terminals

You need to disconnect the wire from the senser, select ohms on your multimeter (Omega symbol) and put one probe on the engine block and the other on the terminal of the sender.
