My airbag warning light has been flashing lately and its giving me the code 12 Low battery voltage. Question is what caused this? What's the easiest way to reset it? What battery are we talking about here, the battery on the airbag? Does it mean it needs replacing?

Thanks in advance guys for you inputs.

Cheers

Blown a fuse recently?
If so then the Diagnostic needs to be reset.
From memory and you should check first but its somthing like the 4th pin from the left on the top of the Diag port is the Air bag memory clear, ground that and turn the ingition on. When the light stops flashing remove the short and all should be good.

That's what's bugging me....didn't have a blown fuse. So i'm a bit worried why this trouble code came up. Ok I'll try reseting it...see what happens. Thanks.

Try it first before you panic, I think the battery error is misleading.

Hello again. Ok, this is what has happened so far. After I grounded the airbag memory clear pin nothing was happenning. So I checked the fuse again. Blown fuse! I replaced it and did the resetting routine again. 5 beeps sounded, it was good. Now, when I put the ignition on, I get another set of trouble code - 53 Intermittant or Repaired Airbag Circuit shorted to ground. I tried to clear that by grounding the memory clear pin again but it won't go away. What should I do next?

By the way, is it Connect memory clear pin to ground then turn ignition on? Or is it turn ignition on then connect pin to ground?

Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Looks like it need to be applied after the ignition is on: from the Diagnostics in the Tech doc section.
{DESCRIPTION}

Displaying codes

Vehicles Built after November 1994 (approx)
Any stored codes will not be visable until the following proceedure is conducted.

1) With the Ignition OFF, short the Airbag Memory Clear Pin of the Diagnostic Monitor, to Ground. (See the Illustration Below for more Information)

2) Turn the Ignition ON, and observe the 6 second AirBag indicator Prove out.

3) Immediately after the Airbag Lamp has turned Off, Remove the Short on the Airbag Clear Line.

4) The Stored Codes will then be Displayed.

Code Clearing

1) Switch the Ignition On

2) Allow the Code to be Displayed.

3) Apply a Short Circuit to the Airbag Memory Clear Pin of the Diagnostic Connector to Ground (See above Picture for further details).

4) The Code will be cleared after 5 Beeps have sounded. Repeat the Above untill all the required codes have been Cleared.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information mate! Problem solved. Flashing error code 53 eventually went away after I tried clearing it again this morning. Im just wondering why it didn't clear 2 days ago when I did exactly the same routine in clearing it.

Thanks again twason. :D
