Hi Guys Ive just brought a EF Futura , first ford Ive owned in ages. I notice the temp gauge takes forever to register, and even after driving for quite a while it barely reaches the normal zone, is this typical or have I got a thermostat that is stuck open.
Second question, what is the normal temp that an original thermostat should open?

I agree with both those previous answers from the other forum members. Also by replacing the old stuck open thermostat with a new one it will also reduce your fuel consumption.

Pop the dash into diagnostic mode and get an accurate temp. It should read around 90 degrees.
Diagnostics is hold trip reset in and turn on accessories. Quickly release and press trip reset three times holding it in on the third press until the seatbelt light goes out. If done correctly the odo will go blank. Press trip reset again and FORD will apear and you can then cycle through options. Press to go forwards, hold for two secs to o back. Hold for 10 sec to turn off diagnostics. cheers Scott

Thats what I thought to be the case, if its always cold it will basically over fuel the engine. I will try all the above today and see what happens.

Changed the thermostat and took it for a drive, now sits betweenthe A and the L, did as MacGyver suggested No 2 reads 91 so its all good I guess.
As a matter of interest does any one have a list of all the functions in the diagnostics? Thanks for the help.
