you'll notice the peak power and peak torque is produced earlier on the straight LPG BA.
This is due to the inlet restriction that is present with the LPG systems used by ford in the BA, thus the engine cannot breathe as good as it would if the LPG mixer wasnt there.

All Fords have done is mounted the tank underneath and bolted the spare in thee middle of the floor.Real lazy, couldn't give a stuff design.

blackjack_original wrote: Since we're on the topic. I was wondering about the BA LPG dedicated cars from factory. Why do they have less power than the petrol 6's. Ok not alot less, 8nm and 26kw, so pretty much nothing. I mean, yeah you usualy have a bit less power on LPG, but with a dedicated car, shouldn't be easy to at least match the 182 of the stock 6, with higher compresion (which they've done) and some intake mods or somthing, and weaker anti pollution gear. Can anyone tell me where they loose out?
They loose out because Ford are basically lazy when it comes to straight gas cars.Ford could easily get the gas BA to match the petrol BA and if Ford cared they would use Gas Injection and make it an option across the entire range.

This is a very interesting topic and i'm looking into it because of increasing petrol prices and i use my car everywhere i go basically.
Ok how much would it cost for say a high performance gas set up for a falcon be? I mean it will have to match or even better petrol, yet have good economy as well. Also what is involved in setting up a gas conversion? |

LPG conversion using GRA = ~$2300 installed
LPG Injection kits are available, apparetnly around the $3k mark, not sure what brands though, contact local LPG fitter.

NOW ADDED AS AN ATTACHMENT. Just been updated. Changed a few settings. Now have added in a "rebate" section where you can add in the new Govt rebate for LPG installs. Makes a difference, believe you me! ****EDITED 15-8-06**** cheers I've just updated my spreadsheet to take the govt rebate into account. Once again, this isn't a "Petrol v LPG" celebrity deathmatch. Take that to another thread. this is a calculator ONLY. what you do with the results is up to you. cheers |

I haven't got a quote on how much to install LPG, but how much would it normally cost (without Govt. rebate) to install LPG into a EB Series 2 6cyl (Stock). Just need know so I can use this calculator?

Depends on the shop.
Ring around and ask, would be your best bet, and when asking for quotes, ask what brand eqipment they will be using. fordzatmyplace wrote: Tis good s**t
do i really spend that much $$$ on fuel It is isn't it??? its especially interesting once you play with the numbers how much money you save being careful with the throttle, or recuding how much you drive as well! Seemingly small things make a big difference. and a few cents here or there on petrol is not as huge as is thought. |

I work in a supermarket on a register. It's a sucky job, don't ever do it. Anyways, i always find it ammusing when people come through and it totals $28 dollars or so, then they go and find other things just to bump the price up over $30 just to get a $0.04 / litre petrol voucher... I mean you need to buy 50 litres just to get that $2 back! Then there's the inconvenience if there isn't a servo that accepts the voucher around... Lots of povo people live where i work

I think the point I was trying to make, is that 2c a litre doesn't make as big an impact on your fuel bill as driving smoother, and reducing your L/100Km does, in most cases. It still surprises me how seemingly unimportant changes make a big difference in your end operating costs, and the ones that people focus most on, (2c rise in prices) in the end don't make as big a difference. |

$2750 for a conversion on a 'coon wagon - $3k in rebates = free gas!
