Hey i have just put an AU XR6 motor in my EB XR6 just not sure how to set the timing.. do i just align the groove in the crank with the metal marker off the front, make sure the number 1 cylinder is at TDC Compression stroke and then put the dizzy rotor facing 1 on the dizzy?
is that all?

That will get you close (unless you put the dizzy in 180 degrees out).
IIRC the timing mark on the AU case is TDC, so when you get a timing light on it you want the mark to be running about 1.5cm left of that (after you have put the ecu into diag mode).

I dont think i have the dizzy 180 out.. it can only go in one way or the plug gets in the way.. so if i just align the groove and rotor at cylinder 1 will it be ok to drive..
or will it be to advanced or retarted?

You can easily put it 180 degrees out (remember that the crank is at TDC twice each rpm)
It will be 10 degrees retarded compared to factory settings.

Oh Yeah.. so the mark is just TDC.. so if i put the rotor facing 1... then the timing will be 0BTDC how do i get it to the factory 10BTDC

start it up and go through the usual procedure for setting the timing on an EB (i think you short the top-left pin on the diagnostic port, rpm will go up and down then stay steady, then set the timing - do a search or check your workshop books thogh). Since you dont have a 10degree mark on the timing case just rotate the dizzy until the timing mark is about 1.5cm left of the TDC mark.
