well i have been noticeing my car accelerates a little bit quicker off the lights compared to a mate of mine with an El saphire auto with same mods. I always thought my diff ratio must have been different and I asked a ford mechanic today and he said all el fairmonts had 3.23 diff ratio's.

EL Gli, Saphire & Futura;

5 speed= 3.25 Sedan, 3.23 Wagon

4 speed auto V8= 3.23

4 speeed auto I6= 3.08, 3.23 Wagon

El Fairmont;

4 speed auto I6 & V8= 3.23

El Fairmont Ghia;

4 speed auto I6= 3.45

El XR6;

3.45 (auto & manual)

EL XR8;

5 speed= 3.23, EL XR8 auto=3.45

NO BUDDY, IT WAS TO COMPENSATE FOR THE EXTRA WEIGHT.

THATS WHY STANDARD WAGON AUTOS GOT THE 3.23 DIFF ASWELL. THERE HEAVIER THAN THE SEDANS.
